Site Manager

One of New Zealand’s largest seafood exporters is seeking to appoint an experienced Manager at the Auckland processing site. This is a great opportunity within the food industry to manage a fish export facility.

Manager Auckland Fish Market

The Auckland Fish Market is a subsidiary of Sanford Limited, one of New Zealand’s leading seafood processing and exporting companies. The Auckland Fish Market auction supplies seafood products to the Auckland retail, restaurant and wholesale markets and is the only one of its kind in New Zealand. Along with the auction, the market comprises of various seafood retailers who sell a variety of seafood, gourmet products and also provide a fantastic array of dining options. The retail sector of the market is a very popular destination for public and tourists alike.

As the Auckland Fish Market manger your principal responsibility will be the ongoing growth and day to day management of the Auckland Fish Market auction. This involves maintaining and building relationships with various customers and vendors who utilize the auction service and also the management of the various activities associated with seafood trading.

You will also work closely with the owners and managers of the various retail businesses in the market to ensure the smooth day to day functioning of their operations and to ensure the overall market continues to meet the evolving needs of our tenants and the public.

We are looking for a highly motivated customer driven manager to meet the requirements of this role who will be capable of building strong relationships both internally and externally. The successful applicant will possess excellent managerial skills with a proven track record, a high level of business acumen and the ability to continually enhance and grow a business.

The successful candidate will have a passion for seafood and a background in one or more of the following: NZ fishing industry, marine sciences, sales of FMCG, hospitality or culinary industry.

FREEZERHAND

WETFISH/SALMON FACTORY - Bluff

Sanford Limited is a long established, well known and highly respected seafood processing company.  Sanford is committed to the philosophy of sustainable development, implementation of world best practices and compliance with national and international standards.  Sanford Limited, Bluff operates two processing factories in Bluff, Mussel and Salmon farming operations in Big Glory Bay and two salmon hatcheries in Kaitangata and Waitaki.

We are currently seeking applications for a Freezerhand for our Wetfish/Salmon processing plant.  This is a diverse position where the successful applicant will be required to work in our chillers, freezers and occasionally our processing plant. A Drivers License Class 2 and OSH Forklift plus F endorsement are pre-requisites for the position and a Class 4 license would be advantageous though not essential.

Experience in a processing environment/fishing industry would also be an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided. This is a full-time permanent position.

Factory Manager – North Island Mussels Limited

North Island Mussels Limited is New Zealand’s largest and most technologically advanced shell-fish processor. Our factory employs approximately 250 seasonal and full-time staff in its new facility in Greerton, Tauranga. We have become one of Tauranga’s ‘employers of choice’ with a large number of our seasonal workforce returning for the 9-10 month processing season each year.
 
This is a demanding role and not for the ‘faint hearted’. We are offering an immediate start for the successful applicant who demonstrates the following competencies:
 
• Experience in, and understanding of, complex and efficient production operations;
• Strong analytical capability, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills;
• A leadership style that encourages high levels of achievement from team members;
• Ability to lead from the front and demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude which encourages continuous improvement;
• A track record of success within a team environment;
• Ability to challenge the norm and deliver results according to planned and agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPI);
• An understanding of the principles of ‘Lean Manufacturing’; and
• Ideally you will have a background in the food production industry with knowledge of food safety regulatory requirements,  such as HACCP, for the Ready to Eat (RTE) consumer market.
 
 
This is a challenging role that will provide the right candidate with an excellent opportunity to work within a leading production environment with a focus on excellence. You will thrive on driving continual improvement and change in a dynamic environment where production can run over a seven-day period. You will be central to the success of the production team and, therefore, in touch with the business at all times.

Remuneration for this role will be in the upper quartile and commensurate with your high levels of experience and proven track record.

Deck Hands Required -For Deepwater Freezer Trawlers

If you’re ready to get wet, smell like fish, and stay focused then you should work as a deckhand for Sanford.

Sanford requires Qualified Deck Hands -For their Deep Water Freezer Trawlers based out of Timaru to work trip 2 trips on and 1 trip OFF paid.

Qualifications: ADH-F or NZOW is preferred but we will be considering an applicant if they are able to demonstrate their capability with previous vessel experience.

Good Knowledge of the following is required:

· shoot and haul nets

· operate winches

· process and pack fish

· mend nets and lines

 · splice ropes and wires

Sea going Marine Engineer -For Scampi Freezer Trawlers

Sanford requires sea going Marine Engineers -For their Scampi Freezer Trawlers based out of Timaru to work trip On /trip OFF or similar with an existing engineer.

Qualifications: MEC4 or DTE 1 is preferred but MEC 5 & 6 will be considered if applicant is suitable and able to demonstrate capability commensurate with duties.

Good Knowledge of the following is required:
• Main engine 
• Auxiliaries 
• Electrical systems
• Hydraulics and normal engineering systems for fuel management
• Freezer refrigeration
